Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has been in the news since she announced that she has tested positive for Coronavirus. The star has been braving an online storm with many celebrities and fans coming down heavily on her for not being “responsible enough” after arriving in India from the UK earlier this month.
According to the latest reports the star has an FIR filed against her in Lucknow for negligence.
In a LIVE chat with Bombay Times, Raveena Tandon, who is awaiting the release of her next film ‘KGF Chapter 2’ with actor Yash, addressed the controversy. Making it clear that there were many questions only Kanika could answer, she said, “There are very contrary reports that are coming around, so one can’t say what her situation was. Whether people checked her or did she really lie about not getting a fever?”
Pointing out that many people around the country partied during the Holi celebrations, she said that her family avoided it and even advised her parents not to venture out as they were aware that Covid-19 was affecting the senior citizens the most.
Emphasizing the need for people to be “responsible” citizens, she said, “People need to be aware. Was Kanika aware or wasn’t she? These are questions only she can answer. But, in these times, people need to be really responsible. You need to know that even if you are young and your immunity is strong, you can be passing it on to someone senior, whose immunity is not as strong. Even if you don’t get attacked by the virus, you could be transmitting it to someone else. So be responsible.”
She went on to add, “We are citizens and it is equally our responsibility. We can’t always blame the government. It should be your civic sense and duty.”
‘KGF Chapter 2’ is slated for a pan-India release in October 2020.
